Busby's Bar

A boutique wine bar with a hi-fi touch

Busby's Bar

As part of my role as Culture and Events Lead at Public Hospitality Group, as right hand man to legendary Sydney hospitality guru Ed Loveday, our team was asked to come up with a concept for a small space on Oxford Street, Paddington, that had traditionally been difficult and unwelcoming. We came up with the idea of a wine and record bar that was super intimate, channelling great venues like Peels in Pererenan (ID), with the DJ in the bar, and wine scattered everywhere. Named after the surveyor that created the bore which gave Sydney a first freshwater supply in the 1800s, which happened to lie directly beneath Oxford House, where this little bar that can is situated. Drinks from Stef and Vince from Maybe Sammy, food from Clayton Wells. Voted Broadsheet Sydney's 2023 Best New Opening - Bars. Features gorgeous Klipsch Heresy speakers from 1973 that I restored to match the decor.
